Prof David Lokhat

Prof David Lokhat is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He serves as the Academic Leader for the Discipline of Chemical Engineering. His research interests are in catalysis and chemical reaction engineering, specifically process intensification in reactor technology with a focus on the development and application of advanced materials for more efficient and environmentally benign reaction and separation systems.

He was a previous recipient of the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers (SAIChE) Innovation award and is a Royal Academy of Engineering Leaders in Innovation Fellow. He was recently named one of the 20 most influential researchers in chemical and engineering research by Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research. He is a member of the South African Young Academy of Science and an affiliate member of the African Academy of Sciences. He also served as President of SAIChE, an editor for the South African Journal of Chemical Engineering and is a rated scientist with the National Research Foundation of South Africa.

Dr Suren Moodley is a lecturer and researcher in the School of Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has research interests in computational modelling, process modelling and optimization, and supports the chair on various projects.

Prof Milan Carsky

Prof Milan Carsky is an emeritus professor in the School of Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). He is also a member of the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers and the Czech Society of Chemical Engineers. He has expertise in fluidised bed hydrodynamics, particle mixing and/or segregation in fluidised beds, design and development of industrial-scale fluidised bed boilers and incinerators, high temperature processes including drying, pyrolysis, gasification and combustion. He is the Editor in Chief of the South African Journal of Chemical Engineering and a member of the organizing committee of the Industrial Fluidisation South Africa conference (IFSA).
